The AGA Corporate Roundtable met during Digestive Disease Week® (DDW) 2019. New for the agenda at DDW, the discussions centered around getting industry’s perspectives on GI practices. Our recap of the meeting is below.
AGA’s 2019 highlights from AGA Institute president
AGA Institute outgoing president, David A. Lieberman, MD, AGAF, gave an overview of AGA’s new strategic plan to support AGA’s new mission statement: Empowering clinicians and researchers to improve digestive health.
AGA is committed to the full spectrum of our members, from basic science research through patient care. The association aims to continue to make a positive impact in the lives of our members and their patients and have adopted four new goals to help inform our priorities and guide our decision-making. Industry perspectives on GI practice – group discussions highlights
AGA conducts ongoing environmental scans to better understand the nature and pace of factors impacting the GI field and to identify potential opportunities, challenges and likely future developments relevant to the organization.
AGA has reached out to key stakeholders to learn about the issues they’re facing, how they’re addressing those issues, and how we might collaborate strategically to the benefit of all parties.
Members of the corporate roundtable are valued supporters of and partners with AGA. Small group discussions were conducted to explore issues that corporate roundtable representatives see as key factors impacting GI practices and the delivery of care.
AGA’s environmental scanning involves the practice of GI, both from the provider and patient point of view. Roundtable members perspectives and thoughts about the factors impacting GI practices and the delivery of care will help with ongoing collaborations with our corporate partners.
Comments and feedback from the small group discussions will be shared in the next issue used by the AGA Institute Governing Board at its July 2019 strategic planning meeting.
This concludes our recap of the May 18, 2019, meeting held at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront in California. A complete report outlining the meeting’s discussions will be shared in the June issue of the roundtable newsletter.
We are looking ahead to the second half-day corporate roundtable meeting in the fall of this year to take place on Nov. 15, 2019. More information will be sent soon.
