The microbial communities that reside in the human gut and their impact on human health and diseases are an expanding area of research — full of exciting discoveries with potential medical applications. To address the most recent advances in the field, scientists and health-care professionals came together at the Gut Microbiota for Health World Summit.

Through lectures and interactive workshops, the summit explored the role of the human gut microbiota in digestive and overall health. Among others, the summit addressed the following questions:

  • How does diet and environment impact the gut microbiota?
  • How do specific life events alter the gut microbiota?
  • What interventions have the potential to regulate the gut microbiota to help improve digestive and overall health?
